Warner Bros. has House of the Scorpion
Warner Bros. Pictures has picked up rights to adapt the Nancy Farmer novel House of the Scorpion. Jessica Postigo will write the screenplay. The book for young adults won a National Book Award and was a Newbery Honor Book. The story centers on an aging drug lord who lives in a future time. He controls the poppy fields of Opium, which is a country centered between the United States and Mexico. The boy who he has raised as his own son becomes rebellious when he learns that he's been the product of genetic engineering.
