Disney goes for Last Lap
Walt Disney Pictures has hired Ron Burch and David Kidd to adapt the Michael Leonard book The Last Lap. Adam Shankman is attached to direct the family comedy, and the book is being released in 2006. Leonard is a Today Show reporter who embarked on a month-long cross-country RV trip with his elderly parents to go back to visit people and places they had known throughout their lives. Leonard's grown children also went along for the ride, and the trip culminated in the birth of his granddaughter. He also filed regular reports on Today.

Disney on a Last Lap
Disney has purchased feature film rights to The Last Lap from writer Mike Leonard. It's based on Leonard's true story, and follows his life as a Chicago-based features correspondent for the Today Show. He drops everything to rent an RV for a month so that he can travel the country for a month with his eccentric elderly parents.
