Abrams is a Good Sailor
J.J. Abrams (Alias, Lost, Mission: Impossible 3) will direct The Good Sailor for Universal Pictures. Brent Hanley is writing the screenplay for the film, which centers on the sinking of the heavy cruiser U.S.S. Indianapolis. The drama comes from the point of view of a 12-year-old boy who decides to do a school project on the event, where the ship's captain was court-martialed after his ship was torpedoed by a Japanese submarine. Nine hundred sailors survived in shark-infested waters, but by the time the ship was missed, only 316 remained.
