The Tripods Trilogy gets theatrical treatment
Gregor Jordan, the Australian-born director who helmed Buffalo Soldiers and Ned Kelly, will both rewrite and direct an adaptation of the John Christopher Tripods Trilogy. Touchstone Pictures will handle the production. The three books in the series are The White Mountains, The City of Gold and Lead and The Pool of Fire and center on a Star Wars-esque story set in the 21st century. The first of the books was published in 1967.
The books center around the Tripods, who have conquered the Earth and made slaves of the human rice. Mind-control devices have been implanted in the heads of everyone over the age of 15. A boy and his two friends work to overthrow the Tripods before they hit that doomed age.
