Chris Columbus has signed to direct Sub-Mariner, an adaptation of one of Marvel Comics' oldest superheroes, for Universal Pictures. The Sub-Mariner, also known as Prince Namor, is a half-man/half-amphibian from the underwater kingdom of Atlantis. Known for his temper and rebellious nature, he sometimes helps the human race, sometimes fights against it (particularly in cases where the waters are being polluted). The character first appeared in comic books in 1939.
