Frey to write Prep

Paramount Pictures and MTV Films have hired James Frey to adapt the screenplay for Prep, based on Jake Coburn's dark novel about prep schools in New York City. The story centers on a young man who is seduced by the uninhibited party life of the city. During a seemingly long weekend, he makes up with a girlfriend as he attempts to save her younger brother, the target of a local gang. Frey wrote the memoir A Million Little Pieces, which is being turned into a movie by Warner Bros.

MTV goes Prep

MTV Films has optioned the rights to the Jake Coburn novel Prep, a dark tale about prep schools in New York City. The film will portray the life of a prep school attendee who is caught up in the uninhibited New York lifestyle, where wild parties are the norm. He tries to leave that life behind, but finds himself drawn back in as he attempts to save the brother of the woman he loves.
