Raimi and Tapert go for even more horror
After the weekend success of The Grudge, Ghost House Pictures, the joint venture of long-time production partners Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert, is set to begin work on Dibbuk Box. Steven Susco, who also wrote The Grudge, will handle scripting duties for the film. The story will be a fictionalized retelling of L.A. Times writer Leslie Gornstein's article "Jinx in a Box." That story was about an antique wooden box that was purchased on eBay. Brought to America by a Holocaust survivor after WWII, it was believed to contain an evil spirit.
The fictionalized version of the tale will center around a cursed box that contains mysterious family tokens. When it is mistakenly purchased by someone outside the family, the new owner must solve its mystery in order to save herself and her family.
