Disney takes Blume to the movies
The Walt Disney Company will translate the classic Judy Blume teen novel Deenie for the big screen. Pamela Gray has been hired to adapt the screenplay.
The book centers around a teenage girl who is being treated for scoliosis, which means that she must wear a back brace. Even as she struggles to accept the situation and contend with the reactions of her peers, Deenie makes an effort to define herself independent of her parents' expectations and plans for her.
