Bauer Martinez acquired The Darwin Awards, the last of the Sundance buzz titles to premiere, on Thursday. The film stars Joseph Fiennes, Winona Ryder, David Arquette and Juliette Lewis.

Ryder and Fiennes qualify for Darwin Awards
Winona Ryder and Joseph Fiennes have signed on to star in The Darwin Awards, which will be directed by Finn Taylor (Cherish) from his own screenplay. Other cast members will include David Arquette, Jeffrey Tambor and Tim Blake Nelson. Alessandro Nivolo and Emily Mortimer will have cameos.
The movie's title refers to the sarcastic Darwin Awards, which are bestowed each year on those who either die or severely injure themselves as a result of their own stupidity. Fiennes will play a forensic detective who teams up with an insurance investigator (Ryder). The pair set off on the road to create the profile of a potential Darwin Award winner.
