Dunmore chooses sophomore project
Laurence Dunmore, who made his directing debut with the Johnny Depp project The Libertine, has signed on to direct the adaptation of James Frey's memoir A Million Little Pieces. The book, which is being adapted by the author to screenplay format, centers around Frey's struggle to beat his addiction to drugs and alcohol. The story starts with the author surprised to find himself onboard a Chicago-bound
plane. He is missing four teeth and has a hole in his face. He cannot remember how any of this happened.
He's strung out on both alcohol and crack cocaine at the slight age of 23. Worse, he's wanted in three different states. Finally, he goes to a drug treatment facility in Minnesota, and the remainder of the tale chronicles his efforts to get clean.
Warner Bros. will produce and distribute the film.
