Columbia picks up Last One In
Columbia Pictures is in discussions to option the upcoming novel Last One In, by journalist Nicholas Kulish. Stephen J. Rivele and Christopher Wilkinson, who wrote the script for Ali, will adapt the book for the big screen. It's a fictional tale about a mediocre gossip columnist who is mistakenly sent to cover the war in Iraq as an embedded reporter. Though he tries to get sent home in the beginning, he soon bonds with the soldiers and becomes a heroic correspondent. Kulish drew on his own experiences as a reporter for the Wall Street Journal to weave the tale.
