Ryder reunites with Heathers director
Winona Ryder will once again work side by side with her Heathers director Michael Lehmann as she will star in the helmer's independent comedy Mary Warner. It's the actress's first starring role since going through a trial and conviction for shoplifting. Written by actor Dylan Haggerty, the movie centers around a slacker actress who goes through a series of freaky adventures after eating brownies laced with marijuana. Director Lehmann describes the film as a dysfunctional Ferris Bueller's Day Off. The film is being created on a small, indie-style budget and is unaffilated with any studio, primarily because the producers and directors want to keep creative control, particularly with regards to the drug-related aspects of the story.
