Warner Bros. goes to Hawaii
Warner Bros. has picked up remake rights to Hawaii Five-O, and has set screenwriter George Nolfi (Ocean's Twelve) to write the script. The television series that had a popular theme song ran on CBS from 1968 to 1980. The show centered around a specialty unit of the Hawaii State Police. The governor assigned the group to take on organized crime. The primary cops were Steve McGarrett (Jack Lord) and Danny Williams (James MacArthur). The pair worked together to solve crimes and pursue Chinese crime kingpin Wo Fat. That villain will also move over for the film. The tentative release date for Hawaii Five-O is early summer of 2006.
