Bauer Martinez gets Tiger
Bauer Martinez Distribution has acquired North American rights to Roberto Benigni's The Tiger and the Snow. Other than this acquisition, the mood at the 2005 American Film Market was quite slow, with not much action taking place at all.

Benigni is a tiger
Roberto Benigni will direct La tigre e la neve (The Tiger and the Snow) from his own screenplay. The comedy will center around a love-struck Italian poet who is in Iraq at the beginning of the 2003 American invasion. Benigni will star alongside his wife Nicoletta Braschi and French actor Jean Reno. The film certainly brings to mind the director's earlier film, Life Is Beautiful, which likewise combined comedy and historical tragedy. The Tiger and the Snow will begin shooting this week in Rome.
