Lions Gate goes Ivy League
Lions Gate Entertainment has acquired Ivy League, and has set writers Josh Bycel and Jonathan Fener to handle the script. The film will center around rowdy kids who accidentally get accepted into a prestigious academic institution, turning the place upside down. The idea for the film was inspired when producer Gary Goodman read an article about Cornell accidentally accepting 1,500 students by e-mail and then rescinding the invitations. He takes the story a little bit further, wondering what would happen if the kids didn't get the second e-mail or just decided to show up at the school anyway. The film is planned to be in the vein of Animal House or Revenge of the Nerds.
