Cast set for indie flick Heavens Fall
Heavens Fall, and indie drama based on the trial of the Scottsboro Boys, has signed up Leelee Sobieski, Timothy Hutton and David Strathairn to star. Terry Green will direct from his own screenplay, and will start filming on Monday in Monroeville, Alabama. Sobieski and Azura Skye will play two women who accuse nine young black men of rape, which leads to one of the most volatile trials ever to take place in the segregated South. Skye’s character eventually recants, sparking a second trial that has the chance to clear the defendants, many of whom received the death penalty.
Hutton stars as renowned New York defense attorney Sam Lebowitz, and other cast members include Bill Sage, Anthony Mackie and James Tolkan. The film marks Sobieski’s first film since she took a break to attend Brown University.
