Weisman has a Widow’s Broom
Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies have hired Sam Weisman to direct the family comedy Widow’s Broom. Chris Van Allsburg, who wrote the children’s books Polar Express and Jumanji, is adapting the screenplay from his book by the same title. The tale centers on a New England family that is mourning the loss of their father. They come upon a witch’s broom that springs to life and sweeps away the neighbors. The kids not only learn magic, but the family slowly finds healing. The studio is looking to begin production in early 2005.
