Lin and Universal to remake Oldboy
Director Justin Lin (Better Luck Tomorrow) has agreed to join the Universal Pictures remake of the South Korean film Oldboy. Lin will adapt the screenplay for the film with his Better Luck Tomorrow co-writers Ernesto Foronda and Fabian Marquez. The original South Korean film was directed by Park Chan-wook and centered around a 30-something man who has been kidnapped by men he does not know and held in a room for years. On the 15th anniversary of the date he was taken, he is knocked unconscious and wakes up in the middle of the city. He then sets out to discover who kidnapped him and their reasons, and also who killed his family in his absence. The film received critical acclaim in South Korea and won the Grand Prix at this year's Cannes Film Festival.
