Nakata remaking The Entity
Japanese director Hideo Nakata, who handled the Japanese versions of The Ring and Dark Water and also the North American version of The Ring 2, will next work on a small-budget remake of The Entity for Fox Searchlight. The original 1981 movie was based on the Frank De Felitta novel by the same name and starred Barbara Hershey. The plot centers around a woman whose life falls apart due to her belief that she is being raped and molested over and over again by an invisible paranormal being. In order to solve the mystery, she turns to a parapsychologist for assistance. The screenplay for the 21st century version of the film was written by David DiGilio.
