Solomon tapping into the BFG
Screenwriter Ed Solomon has signed on to write Paramount's long-languishing adaptation of Roald Dahl's The Big Friendly Giant. Dahl, who also wrote the children's books James and the Giant Peach, Matilda and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, created this tale about a girl named Sophie who is snatched from her bed by a giant. Naturally, she's terrified that he will eat her, but it turns out that he has no intent to harm her. The BFG tells Sophie that his job is to mix up dreams that he blows through a trumpet into the rooms of sleeping children. Soon, though, his powers are put to the test as he and his new young friend must stop the other Giants from snacking on girls and boys.
