Stockwell Chases the Whale
Twentieth Century Fox has signed screenwriter/director John Stockwell (crazy/beautiful, Blue Crush) to rewrite and direct their casino drama Chasing the Whale. The film will be set in the realm of high stakes casino gambling, where "whales" can lose millions of dollars on a typical evening. "Whale" is a term used by those in the industry to refer to rich clients that spend lots of time gambling and losing money in a single casino. As a result, these big clients are pursued by various casinos and handled by a group of service professionals who use sometimes nefarious tactics to compete with one another for the business. The original screenplay was written by Wayne Allen Rice and was then rewritten by Monster's Ball's Will Rokos. Stockwell will tackle the script himself before moving on to
