Scott dives in for project
Ridley Scott is set to direct Shadow Divers, an adaptation of the Robert Kurson nonfiction bestseller, for 20th Century Fox. William Broyles wrote the screenplay about two wreck divers who discovered a German U-boat in 1991 off the coast of New Jersey. Fox 2000 taking a dive into the Shadows
Fox 2000 Pictures is in talks with Apollo 13 screenwriter William Broyles Jr. to adapt the nonfiction tome Shadow Divers: The True Adventure of Two Americans Who Discovered Hitler's Lost Sub into a feature-length film. The studio paid $500,000 to acquire the rights to the story, which follows two wreck divers who discovered a sunken German U-boat in alarmingly close proximity to the New Jersey shoreline. John Chatterton and Rich Kohler dove as deep as 230 feet - the very limit of human stamina - to try to uncover the reasons it might have wound up there. As a result, both men suffered great personal losses, including the crumbling of a marriage and the death of friends who assisted with the exploration.
