Paramount bringing The Ten Commandments back to the big screen
Paramount Pictures, which has previously released two movies based on the biblical story of the Ten Commandments, is looking at returning to that well for a third time. With Mark Gordon on board as producer and Charles Randolph in talks to write the screenplay, the project is in its very earliest stages.
The first Ten Commandments movie hit screens in 1923 and was from seminal director Cecil B. DeMille. It was a silent movie starring Theodore Roberts and Charles de Rochefort and mixed black-and-white scenes with some of the earliest Technicolor scenes produced onscreen. The director returned to the story in 1956 in the well-loved classic that starred Charlton Heston, Yul Brenner, Anne Baxter and Edward G. Robinson. That version of the story was nominated for the Best Picture Academy Aw
