Hanks and DreamWorks to tell the story of Dean Reed
Tom Hanks and DreamWorks have acquired the rights to the life story of Dean Reed, a singer/actor/filmmaker from America whose career in East Germany came to a mysterious end when he dies under suspicious circumstances. The singer, who will portrayed by Hanks, had a following in South America until his political views caused him to be deported from Argentina. He moved to communist East Germany in 1971 after being invited to visit for a documentary film festival in Leipzig. After meeting the woman who would become his wife there, he decided to stay permanently.
