De Palma goes back to Untouchables
Brian De Palma is set to direct a prequel to the 1987 hit film The Untouchables, titled The Untouchables: Capone Rising. He'll work alongside producer Art Linson, as both men had recently joined forces on The Black Dahlia. De Palma takes the place of Antoine Fuqua, who was originally attached to direct.

Untouchables prequel gets writers, director
Paramount has signed up both a director and screenwriters for its prequel to the 1987 film The Untouchables. Antoine Fuqua (King Arthur, Training Day) will direct from a screenplay by David Levien and Brian Koppelman. The title for the film is currently set as The Untouchables: Capone Rising. The story will center around Capone and an early version of Irish cop Jimmy Malone, who is as crooked as every other cop on the Chicago force until Capone rises to become king of the underworld. This period of Capone’s life hasn’t been explored since movies of the 1940s and 1950s.

Fuqua eyeing The Untouchables
Antoine Fuqua is in discussions to direct one of the most unlikely prequel propositions in recent memory. The franchise in question is The Untouchables, the 1987 Eliot Ness/Al Capone classic starring Robert De Niro, Kevin Costner, and Sean Connery. The plan is to follow the rise of Capone from unknown to legendary crime boss which preceded his being brought down by The Untouchables. The tentative title is The Untouchables: Mother's Day.
