Parker to Direct Theron's Ice
Charlize Theron has convinced Alan Parker to direct Ice at the Bottom of the World. Parker has received two Academy Award nomination in his career, for Midnight Express and Mississippi Burning. Theron will star in the family drama about a retired U.S. Navy captain who returns to his Chesapeake Bay home and finds his daughter (Theron) to be a heroin addict and a single mother of a mixed-race child.

Picturehouse is set to join forces with Charlize Theron's Denver and Delilah Films to make The Ice at the Bottom of the World. Theron will star in the film, which is based on a screenplay that Mark Richard adapted from his own fictional short story. The tale is set in the Chesapeake Bay with a Navy captain who has reluctantly retired due to health-related reasons. He has neglected his family for years as he has served his time at sea, and his arrival throws the already dysfunctional group into turmoil. Theron would play one of his daughters, a heroin addict and single mother of a mixed-race child.
