Tulip Fever back on track
Tulip Fever, which had originally been set up to be directed by John Madden two years ago, is now back on track with a different director and writer. The adaptation of the Deborah Moggach novel will now be helmed by Peter Chelsom. Peter Flannery is rewriting the script that was originally worked up by Tom Stoppard when the project was under Madden. The story is set in the 17th century and centers on a pretty young woman who marries a wealthy merchant. She becomes enamored of an artist who arrives to paint her picture, and the two of them plan to run off together. She invests some cash in the tulip market, which was highly lucrative at the time, with certain bulbs bringing in huge bucks.
